Job Description
Requirements:
Primary:
- Responsible for proactive maintenance of server operating systems, corporate IT systems, related applications, hardware and software used in the UK & Europe.
- Ensure the availability of the hosted services to meet UK & Europe operational needs.
- Tasks include:
a. Server log rotation, alerts and monitoring log review, operating system and middleware updates and responding to hosting related service requests.
b. Patching; through a regular schedule of core maintenance activities.
c. In-hours and on-call support for the resolution of hosted server and network incidents or problems as part of a managed shift roster.
d. Ensuring rapid resolution technical of Incidents, Problems and Service Requests.
e. Testing scheduled backups of hardware and software systems.
- Requires adherence to security and access management protocols including providing regular evidence of maintenance work for audit and compliance purposes.
Secondary:
Provide regular service management reporting on IT performance and maintenance activities for the monthly and quarterly exec summaries.
Skills/Experience Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experienced IT technician/engineer with 5 years + proven professional/technical experience and current knowledge of industry best practice for operational support of both public and private cloud platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to support hosted infrastructure including OS, networks and associated middleware.
- ITIL trained and certified preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced in dealing with distributed resource teams.
- Collaborative, team-first attitude shares expertise with colleagues and others; offers mentoring and guidance to peers.
Required technical skills
- Client and server IT infrastructure and software administration.
- Mature knowledge of Compute, Network and Storage infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- IT Change management.
- Experienced in supporting 3-tiered, web application architecture.
- Experienced with Windows Server, VMWare and virtual server infrastructure.
Desirable Technical Skills & Certifications:
- DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP and other networks routing methods.
- Network and web-related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols, etc.)

- Ability to take ownership and be responsible for actions.
- 5 years+ hosted server IT support and administration professional.
- Good communication skills.
- Proactive and highly organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed time management skills and ability to be flexible with respect to working hours, according to operational requirements.
