JOB TITLE: Freight & Distribution Manager
Reporting to Senior Manager - India CS & FD
Individual Contributor Role (can have temp/contract staff at a later stage)
JOB SUMMARY:
- This position leads, develops, implements and continuously improves a best-in-class freight and distribution organization for the country.
- Overall responsibilities include managing projects and activities relating to import/export, order to delivery, supervising and managing warehouse operations and third-party vendors in an efficient and cost-effective manner following all levels of compliance.
- Also, monitoring the performance and training needs of the team and fulfilling the team aspiration and on job training requirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fully responsible for the logistics and warehouse operations in the country
- Acts as a primary interface between field customers and other key internal stakeholders
- Redefines systems, processes and organizational structures in order to achieve warehouse efficiencies and financial savings
- Develop strategies for improving operational efficiencies while improving service levels and optimizing inventory levels as well as operation costs
- Cooperate with local management for all initiatives implementation in the country
- Assist in aligning and improving freight and distribution strategy and tactics with Global initiatives
- Collaborate with other functions such as sales/marketing, finance, RA/QA and IT to intergrade business process and develop solutions
- Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to logistics and warehousing processes/operations; measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to senior management
- Develop employee in relations to training, performance management, career development and employee relations;
- Provide leadership by assigning goals that align to entity annual plans and department needs then manage a team to execute goals through coaching and mentoring
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Create and maintains departmental reports and track Key KPI as required
- Ensure compliance with established procedures and maintain effective internal control over warehousing processes
- Develop and implement freight and distribution policies, procedures/SOPs and ensure 100% compliance
- Apply continuous improvement tools to identify and eliminate the root causes of issues that may arise within the warehouse including managing corrective action
- Participate in teams, committees, events and training which improves the organization
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role is currently an individual contributor role though we may have provided to supervise a team of specialist level employees in later years.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the country. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws

- Handle and process customer complaints in a timely manner and according to company policy and requirement
- Ensure applicable SOP is executed
- Prepare for Audits, Compliances & SOX, etc., Documentation
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance appraisals; evaluating and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, a related field, or equivalent preferred
- An advanced credential, such as an MBA, MA, or MS in a relevant discipline preferred
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience working in a highly regulated warehousing environment
- Warehouse management & stock count process control
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience (preferred)
- Hands-on knowledge of import-export process
- Working knowledge of HSN, e-waybill requirement
- CHA Management, Checklist preparation & control
- Six Sigma / Equivalent Continuous Improvement knowledge
- 3PL / Vendor / Service Provider Management experience
- ERP usage experience / ERP-WMS interfacing experience
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
- Proven success in improving work processes, leading change and role models positive behaviours as well as change agent skills in a complex and fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
- Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization, including English communication skills
- Business level English communication skills required.
