The Front-End Engineering (FEE) and LNG Design Team is accountable for technical delivery of pre-DG3 midstream LNG and Cryogenic (e.g., H2 Liquefaction) capital projects in line with Shell’s Opportunity Realization process (ORS) and works hand in hand with the project delivery group, project services and discipline engineers. Integration across the value chain is crucial for enabling consistent, focused and seamless delivery of Capital and LNG Decarbonization Projects.
The Process Engineer role is offered out of the LNG & Cryogenics GM-ship and located in the FEE & LNG Design Team operating out of Bangalore.
What’s the role?
In this role, you will support Technical Integrators and Front-End Development Managers in delivery of Feasibility Assessments, Concept Select studies and pre-FEED definition of Capital Projects in the LNG and Cryogenics space, while leading feasibility studies and technical assessment of value enhancement opportunities independently, often delivering through multi-disciplinary teams.
What we need from you?
We’re keen to hear from individuals with at least a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an institution of repute, with at least First Class (or equivalent) outcomes. Along with at least 3 years’ experience in one or more of the following:
- International Oil & Gas Companies, with majority of the experience achieved in a Project Development function (particularly Front-End studies, concept selection and definition).
- Reputed Engineering Contractors, with majority of the experience achieved in Front-End studies (feasibility assessment, concept selection and definition).
- National Oil & Gas Companies, with majority of the experience achieved in a Technical Services - Process Projects function and co-delivering projects.
Furthermore, we would hear from individuals who have achieved most of the desired experience in one or more of the following areas:
- LNG (Import and Export Terminals)
- H2 Liquefaction
- Gas Processing (Onshore)
- Gas Treatment (Onshore)
- Syngas and H2 production from Natural Gas or naphtha feedstocks
- CCS / CCUS
Exceptional candidates with allied experience in Refinery or Petrochemical processes will also be considered, subject to meeting other requirements.
The following competencies and skills are also required for this role:
- Process Unit Design:The successful candidate will have experience with the process design of vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and expanders including listing of design cases and ability to pick a sizing case. The candidate will have experience in filling process data sheets and understands the interface with other disciplines.
- Concept Development & Selection:Proven experience of assessing multiple concepts and selecting one or more for a shortlist of options using clear decision criteria. Proven experience of comparing concepts with each other to inform a final selection (technical, economic as well as risk).
- Process Unit Operations Support:A basic understanding of Process Unit Operations, performance monitoring and optimization and standard operating procedures.
- Process Control and Optimization:Understanding of base layer, complex and advance control systems as applied in continuous process plants.
- Process Design Integration:Proven experience of working with and coordinating multiple technical disciplines to inform a technical assessment, preferably in a Concept Select situation.
- Energy, Utilities and Water:Familiarity with Utilities, and how these interact with process facilities in a highly integrated process plant.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
