Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager
Roles and Responsibilities
Central dispensing area:
- To ensure that all drugs are stored and dispensed correctly.
- To check the accuracy of the dosages prepared.
- Maintain proper records
- Preparation of bills
- Co-ordinate over all pharmaceutical needs of the patient
- Framed policies and procedures are followed
- Maintain professional competence.
- Communicate with all pharmacy staffs.
- Keep record such as pharmacy files, patients profiles, charge system files, inventories, registries of poisons, narcotics or controlled drugs.
- Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packing, or labeling, pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security and proper disposal.
Direct patient areas:
- Identification of drugs brought into the hospital
- Obtaining patients medication history
- Assist in the selection of drug products
- Monitor patients total drug therapy
- Counseling patients 6. Participating in cardio-pulmonary emergencies
- Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctor and weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients.
- Review prescriptions from doctors to ensure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability for the patient
- Provide information and advice about drugs, their side effects, correct dosage, and proper storage
- Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies
General responsibilities:
- Ensure that all drugs are handled properly
- Participate in pulmonary emergencies
- Provide education and training for pharmacists
- Work with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the quality or effectiveness of drugs
- Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
