Job Description
Job Role:
The Legal Consultant will report directly to the CFO and Legal Counsel(India). Personnel must be experienced in all aspects of Legal advisory and to handle US and India legal processes and add value to and be the legal team. Personnel shall ensure that company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, create an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies development. The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance, assist the HR team in special circumstances related to employees and limit risk exposure.
Role Responsibilities:
Legal Drafting - Drafting and amending Client as well as Vendor Agreements/Master Level Service Agreements, employer-employee agreements.
NDA & Confidentiality Agreement - Drafting and vetting NDAs from Clients, Vendors, and/or investors.
Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management
Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action
Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically
Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
Base your decision-making process on ethics and integrity
Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
Deal with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
Attract, develop, direct, motivate and drive performance from the team
Draft agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights
Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
Keep abreast of legislative changes.
To provide advice on different legal issues.
To be actively involved in preparing and drafting different statutory and legal submissions and draft the authoritative legal opinions as well.
To assist in reviewing the legal material and any other relevant documents and to identify the most important issues that need to be sorted out on a priority basis.
To draw up formalities regarding the settlement of legal cases and monitor the implementation of the legal clauses.
To coordinate, follow-up, and monitor the progress of the cases pending in various courts of law across the country in consultation with the Council's legal representatives.
Taking a lead role, especially during meetings, hearings, etc., and prioritizing work to ensure that the services delivered to the Council are of high quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education
Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, IT & Intellectual Property Law, etc). Law graduate from a premier law school and holds a masters' degree (preferable).
Experience & Exposure
3+ Years of proven experience in the field of Legal consulting, advisory, and practice.
International experience and exposure (preferably US)
- Experience in multi-unit concepts preferred.
- Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc)
- In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations
- Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
- Well-versed in how the business operates with financial acumen
- High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to see around the corner
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and procedures.
- Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
- Well-versed in corporate law, litigations, Labor Law, IT & Intellectual Property Law.
