Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Transit Vehicle Engineer who enjoys solving technical and non-technical challenges in an evolving market. Youll be working on exciting and engaging vehicle projects including those focused on zero-emissions transportation. You will be engaging with our existing clients, as well as supporting pursuits for new work.You will be one of the companys key contacts with clients and youll ensure overall work progress and technical performance on projects. You will be a part of highly resourceful teams in the completion of required activities related to transit vehicles (locomotives, cab cars, passenger railcars, multiple units, buses, trolleys, and light rail vehicles, including zero-emission vehicles), including producing technical specifications, vehicle inspections, First Articles, vehicle testing and commissioning, authoring technical studies and other documents, preparing and reviewing design packages, and more.
You will also assist Jacobs teams in the delivery of vehicle adjacent work, including facility design, service planning, operations support, and more. You will serve as a technical resource for internal stakeholders seeking to deliver zero-emissions transportation related projects. Youll support facility design related to the maintenance of and repair focused on transportation vehicles including electrification, layout and necessary upgrades.
Youll be tasked with answering technical and commercial questions from clients, reviewing designs and engineering changes, developing specifications, and most importantly leading teams to successfully deliver projects. Youll work with both junior and senior team members to lead day to day functions related to transit vehicle engineering.
Well rely on you to analyze and prepare reports on complex technical equipment problems, failure trends and fleet reliability issues, as well as investigate any part failures or maintenance issues.
As a critical member of ongoing projects, youll communicate and interact with Rail and Bus Manufacturers as well as local contractors to resolve technical issues and also provide engineering support.

Here's What You'll Need:
2 - 5 years experience with transit vehicle engineering or related environment (such as vehicle manufacturing, engineering consulting, or fleet operations)
Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Masters Preferred
Strong technical background in heavy and light rail vehicle design, manufacturing, and/or operations.
Excellent communication, time management and report writing skills
Great mentorship and leadership skills
Experience should include:

Development of reports for non-technical audience
Engineering design and/or review
Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes
Knowledge of transportation related regulations and standards

Technical evaluation engineering and quality related defects
Commissioning
Experience leading multi-discipline teams
Emerging knowledge of transit vehicle industry standards, requirements, systems, and practices is preferred
