Roles and Responsibilities
The Purchase Manager at GITS Food will be responsible for timely sourcing of all food raw materials, packaging products, and managing vendor relationships. Establish relationships across all key internal stakeholders at Head Office and Factory Level regarding the supply needs as well as be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.
1. Ensure all items are purchased and delivered within budget and time constraints.
2. Will be responsible right from the initiation to the finalization of the packaging artwork related to the new product. This includes sharing creative brief and technical details pertinent to product background info with the agency. Liaise with the packaging design agency and the QC department to ensure the final artwork template is in line with the production specifications.
3. Maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
4. Facilitate timely placement of purchase orders, review purchase orders for proper authorization and compliance with organizational policy and procedures.
5. Monitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectives.
6. Build market insights on commodity pricing & facilitate buying decisions.
7. Develop, lead and execute sourcing strategies related to food-related raw material and packaging items.
8. Evaluate existing vendors and as required develop profitable suppliers and vendors based on price, quality, support, capacity, and reliability.
9. Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements.
10. Controls spend and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
11. Produce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs, and delivery performance.
12. Direct continuous improvement of purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions.
13. Work closely with marketing function for the development of packaging material & POP for existing and new SKU's.
14. Will be responsible to lead a team and their performance by providing them functional support on a day-to-day basis.
15. As the need be will be required to visit the Factory in Pune.
16. You will be in charge of Head Office upkeep on a day-to-day basis. Control the supplies in accordance with the office needs.
17. Will be responsible for office space planning, maintenance, and renovations as and when necessary.
18. Must be proactive in handling and resolving any other purchase/admin-related task as delegated by the Director Sales and Marketing from time to time.
Desired Candidate Profile
1. The candidate should have10-15 Years of relevant experience
2. Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Supply Chain Mgmt.
3. Experienced candidates should be from FMCG, the Food industry. Also, good experience in commodity buying handled a large portfolio of food and packaging categories viz. Dairy, Veggies, Rice, Pulses, and Spices, etc.
4. Understanding the food business will be crucial for this role.
5. Deep knowledge of purchasing and supply chain management
6. Supervisory and management experience.
7. Working knowledge of all laws and regulations relating to procurement and contracts.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
10. Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
11. Strong planning and organizational skills
12. Excellent leadership skills to be able to collaborate and work with the team
13. Financial acumen
14. Ability to gather and analyze data
15. Strong interpersonal skill is essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas, and levels of the business.
