Innovation Officer (Horticulturist)Job description
- Making a portfolio of products identified from bio-resources
- Shortlisting bio-resources and local knowledge-based products for validation and value addition for enterprises
- Diffusion of proven and field-tested technologies through demonstration, training, and extension activities.
- Organizing various meeting and workshops to diffuse and disseminate the knowledge, practices, and innovations from the honeybee network database.
- Database updating, literature preparation and dissemination of low cost Do It Yourself technologies.
- Organising horticultural trials
- Analysing horticultural yields, operational costs and financial returns
- Maintaining financial and administrative records, writing and modifying business plans, developing new products
- Liaising with colleagues, local officials, customers, professional groups etc.
- Promote innovations-based enterprises and support to establish small scale units.
- Willingness to travel the length and breadth of rural India for the purpose of scouting spawning, and incubating innovations.
- High on multi-tasking and willingness to work under stress through constant innovation, initiation and improvisation to bring your best to work every day.
- Adept at managing time for timely submission of reports/presentations to the management.
- Sound communication skills (proficiency in regional languages apart from Hindi is much appreciated and preferred).
- GIAN values and prefers innovative minds who've had the experience of establishing start-ups but have failed or quite due to any reason.
Qualifications and Skills
- BSC/MSC Horticulture
- Minimum one- or two-years' experience in on farm research is desirable.
- Willingness to stay in villages is essential, keep close touch with local communities, collect and analyse data of on farm trials using statistical tools is essential.
- Ability to scout innovators will be given special credit.
