Job Description
Engineer Mechanical design would require to handle mechanical design of engineered products (FTV’s, CBV’s & SG’s) and its accessories and work with global engineering team to build and maintain 3D design, manufacturing drawings, Balloon drawings & dimensional inspection reports (DIR), maintain BOM & documents related to Design authority. Maintain all the design and product data on PDM/PLM server and able to complete the tasks with in established standard effort hours and meet quality metrics.
This position is located in Bangalore, India.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Able to work with Engineering team to build Engineered products mechanical design in Solid works 3D design and 2D drawings & General Assembly drawings.
- Able to convert the legacy designs with Engineering specification in standard design templates.
- Able to do design with respect to the manufacturing process for the part development.
- Able to make inspection drawing and dimensions inspection report for first article inspection.
- Able to maintain the engineering product data in PDM/PLM.
- Able to create ECO (Engineering change order) document for the part/Assembly design release in PDM/PLM.
- Able to create BOM and interchangeability charts.
- Able to prepare Critical Design review report for the part design before development with various cross functions review and approval.
- Able to do reverse engineering project.
- Able to determine the wall thickness and material selection for the pressure vessel.
- Able to work with sourcing for the technical feasibility study and clarify the supplier for the design queries for the part manufacturing development.
- Able to work with QA for getting approvals of Balloon drawing and DIR approvals in PLM.
- Able to investigate the deviated physical components and its impact in product assembly and provide engineering clearance for the testing.
- Able to work with production/ Plant QA to understand the noncompliance notice requirements & resolve the engineering design issue.
- Able to co-ordinate with cross functional teams for Data change request, ECO, EAR implementations
Desired Candidate Profile
- BE/BTech in Mechanical/Tool & Die Design from a reputed Institute.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years in 3D design, 2D manufacturing drawing with GD&T in a reputed engineering/ manufacturing organization.
- Have good understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Hands-on experience in 3D modeling and 2D drafting of parts per industry standards using any of the 3D, CAD softwares SolidWorks, inventor, solid edge, UGNX, Pro-E, CATIA. Solid works is preferred.
- Experience in creation of manufacturing and assembly drawings per ASME/DIN/BIS drafting standards is required.
- A Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) additional advantage.
- Experience in modeling and drafting of complex castings, machined parts, welded frames and assemblies are required.
- Experience in DFA, DFM, FEA, Stack up analysis, DFMEA.
- Prior experience in pumping products manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
- ERP knowledge will be an added advantage.
- Good Knowledge of Casting manufacturing process, Fabrication process.
- Understanding of Engineering Change order implementation.
- Good knowledge of commonly used materials in the industry, their key mechanical properties and applications.
