Select forwarders and carriers. Negotiate rates for freight and services, based on inputs from your customers.
Establish yearly service level agreements with transport companies and forwarders with the objective of reducing freight costs (actual or in efficiency terms) and, at the same time, increasing service levels (focus on transit times, customer service, damage control etc).
Implement and monitor performance tools to follow up actual performance versus agreed targets (CO2 emission reduction, cost, service levels, delivery times, damage rate etc.).
Keep on striving for continuous improvement.
Coordinate shipments with customers, suppliers and/or freight forwarders to ensure timely and damage-free deliveries in the most cost-effective manner
Streamline the process of cost allocation and ensure an accurate freight charging and internal reporting.
Implement and maintain accurate claim and damage records with transport- and insurance companies to ensure claims are getting reimbursed on time
Enhance online integration with the forwarders (online tracking and tracing and POD availability, follow-up of undelivered shipments, )
Experience requirements
Proven people management skills and handling multiple priorities from various stakeholders in effective manner is must for this position
Thorough experience knowledge in Transportation related processes (operational, administrative and analytical)
Experience in external employee management (3PL, transport support staff), Contract, Terms Conditions.
You should have atleast 5 to 7 years of experience in Logistics
You have exposure to ERP systems and SAPs relevant modules
Shuold be familiar with logistics software such as Transport Management System.
Upkeep and knowledge of basic plant safety requirement
You have a good knowledge of the national tax and are updated with related legal changes
Educational requirements
A graduate degree from a recognized University. An MBA in Operations management course will add value to the role.

Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
Ability to effectively promote and lead change
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skill with the ability to drive results
Must be able to work with flexible schedules and stretch to deliver during month end activities
Good communicator, have fluency in English, Hindi preferably some regional languages too.
