Candidate must have Assembler Programming and C/C++ experience preferably in a software vendor environment. It is desirable to have experience developing ISPF Applications. Developer must be proficient at dump reading including the use of IPCS.
The primary duties of the position will be to perform assembler and C/C++ programming activities related to product maintenance and new development for ASG’s PRO/JCL and INFO/XE products. In this position, the software engineer will be assigned and required to complete tasks which includes activities such as technical design/specification, assembler programming, debugging, dump and problem analysis, devising product solutions, unit and regression testing, documentation, PTF and APAR development. This position will require the candidate to be able to perform all aspects involved in gathering and formulating customer and system requirements and to express those findings into well-formed documents. In addition, the candidate must be able to establish and perform benchmarking and prototyping tasks which will enable proof of concept ideas for new and existing product features.
This candidate will also be required to work within a team environment to determine current and future product requirements as well as product changes as it relates to supporting subsystem and/or z/OS release features and development of corporate strategies into the product. Strong communications skills, the ability to collaborate successfully with a diverse team of other developers, QA, Technical Writers and support staff, to facilitate effective product planning and problem resolution activities.
