Job Description
We are seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to work with the Southern Area Oil Operations (SAOO) Technical Support Department who will mainly focus on taking existing facilities design and improving it; making it more efficient, reliable and sustainable through the efficient utilization of fit-for-purpose digital technologies and solutions.
The Engineers duties are to develop new scientific methods for process enhancements. Develop various prototype models and administer all optimization from conceptualization to validation. Perform research on processes to design new optimization algorithms.
The organization handles complex related process issues associated with hydrocarbon processing.
Key Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
Lead multidisciplinary teams to develop strategies and implementation plan to improve crude quality, unit cost of production, energy intensity and other critical operating parameters, capitalizing on PI data analysis, data analytics, field visits and collaboration with plant operations.
Take a leading role in analyzing operational challenges and work with other entities to find solutions to address the challenge and work with proponent to fund and implement the solution.
Research available new technologies and work with departments to fund and pilot and test them in the facilities.
Lead a multidisciplinary team of SAOO operating department engineers to identify challenges and limitations to meet production requirements with short- and long-term plans and review the impacts of 20 years forecast.
Work with Engineering Services and the operating departments on means to improve performance and reduce processing costs including optimization/debottlenecking studies and assessment of new digital technologies.
Present status and results of various studies and initiatives to senior management that is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate, you
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, a Master degree is also preferable, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is recommended.
Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in Oil & Gas industry operating facilities, a membership with internationally recognized technical societies is preferable.
Must have experience with process simulation tools such as ASPEN HYSYS.
Have experience with Produced water treatment and technologies.
Have experience with crude oil processing, stabilization and process gas conditioning.
Have a strong analytical and research skills, background in advanced mathematics and data analytics.
Have a solid background in process economics.
Are able to propose and deploy digital technologies/solutions and innovative ideas to enhance process operations.
