What the role is about?
A.Paul is the largest supplier of Passenger Information Systems, CCTV systems and Industrial Controls to Indian railways. It has developed a range of IoT products that are gaining much traction.
As an Sr. Purchase Manager, lead a team of purchasers working on a systematic purchase process and will be responsible for vendor development, sourcing electronic components (major), Electrical parts, Sheet metal components, shortlist and negotiate with international suppliers, manage the import process and negotiate rates and delivery terms with suppliers.
You will be required to interface with leading Electronic Distributors internationally.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Procurement of Electronic Components like Resistors, Capacitors, Integrated Circuits, sheet metal enclosures etc.
- Searching for new vendors and registering them.
- Enlist and approve Vendors for new requirements raised by R&D team.
- Negotiate credit and rates with vendors.
- Supervise and manage a team that receives and Compares and evaluates offers from suppliers.
- Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
- Pull in material from Vendors to cut lead times.
- Work on procurement requirements for large projects in association with the project team.
- Negotiate and empanel logistics service providers for best rates with minimum lead times.
- Manage the Import Clearance process.
- Work as an internal service provider to the Production Planning and Control Wing.
- Effectively lead, train, and manage day to day work of the purchase executives to
- solve their problems,
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery by advising
- monitoring their work.
- Ensure proper data entry operations.
- Ensure adherence to the purchase process.
- Engage with R&D and production team to identify domestic and import sources for new parts meeting specs. Must have a technical bent of mind.
- Manage Purchase returns and debit note / credit note reconciliation with the vendors.
- Report to Management on the purchase progress on various Purchase requisitions and issues being faced on weekly basis.
- Maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time and the company remains a preferred customer.
- Attend trade shows and exhibitions to stay up-to-date with industry trends and identify new suppliers.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Qualification in Electronics (Diploma or Engineering) is highly preferred.
- Should possess good communication skills
- Should have demonstrated knowledge in Shortlisting international vendors from China , Taiwan through portals.
- Must Have in past Job, extensive procurement experience in Purchase and import of Electronic components like Resistors, Capacitors, bare PCBs, Integrated circuits etc from open market and from authorised suppliers.
- Should have a good rapport with Authorised Distributors of Electronic Components.
- Should have good knowledge of the industry and share good rapport with reputed distributors.
- Should be organised in work methods with proper reporting and data management tools on Excel.
- Should have worked on ERP of some sort in the past.
- Must be process oriented.
- Must have the ability to negotiate prices independently with optimum credit periods.
- Must have knowledge of Imports, Bill of Entry management, Custom clearance etc.
- At least 6-10 years experience in procurement of parts vendor evaluations, negotiations and purchasing.
- Should be mobile and willing to actively visit vendors to close procurement issues.
- General IT Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Google sheets and docs is preferred, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- ERP (any) knowledge.
